Five Classical Texts Added to the Digital Library

karṇāṭa: Centre for Classical Kannada is pleased to announce that five more classical texts have been added to our Digital Library. Together they bring 4,626 verses online, each to be read in Kannada script or in transliteration, and searched across the whole library.

  • Śataka: Udayāditya’s Candracūḍāmaṇi Śataka, a century of 103 verses, each closing on the name of Śiva as Candracūḍāmaṇi.
  • Kāvya: Harihara’s Girijākalyāṇa, in ten āśvāsas, on the marriage of Girijā and Śiva; and Rāghavāṅka’s Siddharāma Caritre, in nine sandhis, on the life of the saint Siddharāma.
  • Śāstra: Candrarāja’s Madanatilaka, in eleven adhikāras, and Maṅgarasa’s Khagendramaṇidarpaṇa, a treatise on poisons and their cure in sixteen adhikāras. These are the first works in the library’s new Śāstra section.

Each text was prepared from our source documents and checked against them word for word. All of them can be found in our Digital Library.
